Good game tonight! A few penalties, and quite a few missed tackles, but hey its the first game of the year. For the first game of the year, I think we did ok. Its tough when your down six starters. Cuda, we need you bud, get better soon!

I agree. A little sloppy to start but play seemed to improve as the game went. Unfortunately I had to watch on TV instead of going to it. Thanks to Ch 25 for making that possible. These young guys gettign time on the field will only help later in the season and I think we will be just fine when Cuda and the other injured guys are back. Funny how the clock just happend to not work again in Henderson. Does that happen much or just when Reitz is over there?

Not sure on the clock, but they had 28 years to fix it, and didn't.
On a couple of serious notes. Our D line seemed to not be able to get off of their blocks. I know it is still early, but D line play was a big part of our success last year. I hope that aspect of the defense can improve in a hurry. They did make some plays when they had to, but it seemed inconsistent.
I will say that Carr is our shut down cornerback this year. He needs to go one on one with the other team's top receiver and take him out of the game. Welcome to Carr Island.
Our receivers had quite a few drops tonight. I hope that this gets corrected in the coming weeks. A case of the droppies at an inappropriate time could be a game changer.
Overall, I thought we played well for what we lost last year and who we had injured tonight. Now they just have to go and improve on this game for next week.
On a side note. Did Kempf change numbers this year? I didn't have a roster to look at, and I never saw a 47 out there. If he did, what number did he wear, and if he didn't, does anyone know why he didn't play?
Foghorn. Did you have you face painted half blue and half grey with your beard swapped? If so, I saw you!!!!

Maybe with the money that Henderson County made on the gate tonight do you think they could go out and purchase a game clock that will work for all four quarters not just the first 3 and 1/2 quarters. Any former players from the class of 1983 at the game think the same thing i did when the clock went out. Don't know why we would ever go back and play at that place.

You know, I often think a lot of talk of home team cheating isn't legit, but last night was one to make me reconsider. If we wouldn't have pulled it together in the fourth quarter and taken a two td lead that thing may have turned into a complete robbery. The penalties and ball spots were particularly questionable and the clock issue was insane. I hope we don't get more of the same next week.

This is no disrespect to Miles or any other small player for that matter, but how does everybody feel about having a 158 lb kid play on the D line? I remeber Steve Rainey at 130 pounds, but he was a linebacker. Does this concern anybody?
Again, no disrespect to any undersized players. After watching the Reitz is going to have to be a lot more physical up front on both sides to be good this year.

I was focused on the line of scrimmage but many times during the game my wife kept fussing about the clock not starting.Their radio broadcaster (WSON) did make one or two commments about the clock. On one play, the broadcaster said the HC player
"was fast but not that fast" when he made a first down in ZERO seconds.

Yes, there were clock problems the whole game, starting with 23 seconds running off the clock on the opening kickoff where the HC receiver caught it and took a knee. Multiple times plays were ran where no time elapsed and other plays the clock continued to run when it should've been stopped. I kept blaming the clock operator but maybe it was the clock itself??? In the end it probably didn't affect anything but . . . they've had all summer over there to make sure everything is in working order.
