The Reitz cub football team opened their season Thursday night at Reitz Bowl against Mount Vernon. The Panthers won the opening 'B' game, 22-16, while the Wildcats hung on for a 22-8 victory against the Reitz Cub A Team.

I dont have a roster in front of me but #1 benny fulton looked good running the ball, #8 tristan clark looked good at B QB, #18 volkman looked really good on the A team, #14 (dont remeber name) looked pretty good at A QB. #47 colin gilham looked really good on "A" defense...he had a nice pick and has nice height. Anybody know if he is realted to Chad Gilham?
Anyway...the boys looked good overall. We are, as always, gonna be in good hands.

Sounds like if they quit turning the ball over, they'll be OK. How many turn overs did the A team have?

Yes, Austin Volkman will be a strong player for the Panthers - he is very talented at all the sports he plays.
Kind of surprised MV has enough players for a 'B' cub team. They only have right at 100 boys in the 8th grade class and usually their varsity football participation #s at MV aren't that high. (unless they're using some 7th graders on cub 'B')

They are...it is my understanding that their "B" team is all 7th graders. We have 5 7th graders.

Yes, Mt. Vernon runs a 7th and a 8th grade team. 7th plays the B team.
On the injury front, Trevor Fetscher (don't know the number he wears) will be out for at least two weeks with a concussion after a helmet to helmet hit while making a tackle. I know it was scary for the family as he still did not know where he was at 9:30 last night. If I get any updated information, I will pass it along.
