In the world of social media and instant messaging I have talked to Rudy and he likes the idea so here it is:

For those who have smart phones (iPhone Droid etc) and have a Twitter Account it would be nice to update the scores from the Reitz games but also from the SIAC in general as we all like to follow our conference. So my proposal is this:

If you are at a game involving an SIAC team when you Tweet a score use the hashtag #SIAC I am going to also post this on the Gridiron Digest as well to hope garner some support for this idea. No longer will we have to wait until halftime or the next day to read it in the paper to see who is leading or who won.

When Reitz scores and I am in the stands I will be updating and I hope others follow as well.

I think this is a great idea. I tweeted updates during a couple of the Reitz games last year, but with the addition of a hashtag, other SIAC fans can find it more easily.

Here's an example:

With 3:34 left in the first half, Bosse leads Whatsamatta U. 28-7 #siac

It's that easy. If you have any questions, let me or SWIN know.

Thanks!

I am very new to twitter so be gentle.

How can i be on the receiving end of the updates? I understand how to send them just not how to receive.

I'll be gentle smile.gif

You can choose to 'follow' me on twitter. Just go to http://www.twitter.com/reitzfootball and click the follow button, and then on your twitter home page, all the updates from people that you follow will appear.

Another option is to go to http://search.twitter.com/ and do a search for #siac. Be sure to include the # symbol...that is called a hash tag and people use it to let others know when they're talking about a particular subject.

I just did that search and one tweet found that @mfetscher said "Ready for some football going to use the hashtag #SIAC this year for score updates from the Southern Indiana Athletic Conference"

Give it a try and play around with it. Twitter is a lot of fun...I like to follow some of my favorite radio and local tv personalities, etc. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask...I'll be happy to help!
