There is a poll over on GridironDigest.com asking what the best postseason-only rivalries are. Some have nominated the Reitz-Cathedral rivalry, but I wanted to see what everyone else thought.

Part of it would have to depend on how often the teams have played one another. I do believe that Reitz and Jasper hold that distinction with 5 post season matchups. Another part would have to be what was on the line for the game. Reitz and Cathedral have met 4 times with a birth to the state finals on the line (Reitz is 3-1 in those games). Problem with the deeper "rivalries" (Cathedral, Lowell) is that there is no guarantee that both teams will be there at SS or State. You have a much better chance of playing a sectional rival more often. But with almost any pick, you can't go wrong.

I think to be considered a rivalry you must play a lot. No way Cl east and Reitz is a rivalry a long with Cathedral because they've only played a few times(since the 1950's).

I would say Reitz vs Castle or Reitz vs Jasper is the panthers top rivals in the post season. As long as Reitz stays in 4a I can assure you they will see a lot of the Jasper wildcats in the future. I think Reitz and Cathedral are building a rivalry as we speak. The same can be said with East Central.
