What makes Reitz Football special to you?

From Norma Smith Bond: Being interested in Reitz football started for me in 1952 . In 1953, I was varsity majorette, and, at that time, the band sat on the sidelines of the field. We were very close to the action. I learned a lot about football being so close to the plays, players and coaches.

Ever since, I have been a true Reitz Fan. I love Reitz football and the school. I have seen many good games...good or bad, they were all special to me. All five of my children and 10 grandchildren attended Reitz and I hope my great grandchildren will also. I get so nervous before a game, you would think I was playing. I will always be a TRUE BLUE AND GREY PANTHER FAN. I cant wait until next season. Good luck Panthers in the coming season.

I was a Reitz bando, too. I marched for Reitz in the early 1980s. It is exciting for me to read about the various Reitz alumni that have taken an interest in preserving the history of the school. I am always on the lookout for items relating to Reitz history. Case in point, here are a couple photos of Reitz majorettes from the 1950. Norma, you may have sent these images to me originally. I don't remember where I got them. For those of you who haven't seen these images before, I thought you might get a kick out of seeing them (so to speak).

1953-1954 Reitz Majorettes
You can see the first names above each majorette. Unfortunately I don't have their last names.

1955-1956 Reitz Majorettes
According to Norma, the girls in this photo are: (l-r) Wilma Sims, Norma Smith Bond, Jean Schmitt, Darla Walker head majorette, Sharon Saltzman, Georgia Timberlake, and Suzie Walton. Our mascot was Sandy Lewis who went to Tekoppel.
