What is your favorite Reitz Football moment?
from Corey Chipps: My favorite football moment didn't come while I was on the field, but in the stands as a Freshman.
In the 2001 season, I watched the most determined team beat a Castle team at home in Sectionals. Reitz was highly favored to lose the game, but you couldn't tell that to the guys on the field. As the game went on, a fog started to settle over the field. When Ray Everhardt ran for over a 50-yard score to put Castle on top, something told me we were still going to win with around a minute or so to do so. After Daniel Woods kicked the winning field goal and we (the students) rushed the field, I stopped and looked around at the battered, beat up Reitz team crying for joy because they did what many thought was impossible. That's when I realized Reitz football isn't just football, it's the blood, sweat, and tears you share with your brothers in proving you can be more than what people say. That team defined "Heart and Determination" that night. I always tell the guys, who are currently playing, to take advantage of putting on that helmet, because that chance could be taken from you in a heart beat.
That night made me proud to be a part of The Reitz Nation. Blue and Silver forever!!!
