What makes Reitz Football special to you?
from Duce Reeder, Class of '96: 10 years after I last put on the blue and silver, Reitz still means so much to me. Every Monday I pull up this website to track our beloved Panthers and follow that up with a phone call Ryan Gamblin, Michael Penrod, and Tim McClarney...old teammates and still close friends. I went on to play football at Vanderbilt, but I still bleed blue and silver. The relationships that were forged under the Friday night lights, the lessons learned on the dusty practice field, and being part of the such a historical program are things that will never leave me.
Every time I come back to Evansville the first thing I do is drive up to the bowl, look down on the field and relive the 1995 season. Even after 4 years in the SEC at Vandy, the 1995 season is still the high point of my career. I only have 2 regrets. One, that I didn't move to Reitz until my junior year and two, that we were not awarded the touchdown I scored on the last second of the game against North. If the referee would have raised his hands signaling a score, I would be talking about the time that we raised the state championship trophy for ole RHS. Thank you to the greatest fans in Indiana HS history that make being a Panther special and a very special thanks to Rudy who keeps us all together.
Note from Rudy: Thanks Duce...and yeah, I still say you crossed that goal line!
