Great win last night! Fantastic job by all the coaches and players to start the year 3-0 against three good teams with all the injuries. It was great to see Cuda in action again. With Harrison coming up, it should give us time to get even more kids back in time for Memorial and Castle. This will really help our depth later in the year with all the game experience the younger players are getting.

We are going to need some more people back soon. Its great to see cuda back. He looked great last night. He needs to play D now. Can't wait for the showdown at the end of the year with the other westside team!

Good win...but I think the Panthers came out kind of flat last night, surprising since it was their first home game. I really liked the new look of the grey pants, instead of the all blue at home.
Cuda was the difference in the game, Now to see him back at 100% and playing safety again, he is needed because, there has been several times the D is getting beat on long passing coverage. It's going to be fun watching this team develope as the season progresses.

I know we have Carr Island on one side of the field, but my question is what are they going to do when Cuda comes back at safety? Ricketts did the best he could with what could be said was a bad matchup with Barker last night, and had a couple of deflections last night. Yeah, he got beat a couple of times, but who doesn't? I don't know of a true "shut down cornerback" in high school football. Just wondering if when Cuda comes back at safety, will Tidwell and Ricketts split time at the cornerback position? Is there someone else that will see time there? Just wondering.

I would put Cuda back at saftey and maybe try Flemming at the other db spot. Cuda will help in the middle against the run as much as he does with the pass. Central is a good team. I thought they played Reitz tougher then they did Mater Dei. I could see Central knocking of Jasper this year. I know we will be much better on D when Dimmet is playing. I'm very impressed with Tidwell at saftey. However, I don't like that we have 3 to 4 kids going both ways. Last year we only had a couple kids going both ways.

Carnahan ( #26) did play last night. Unless he changed numbers? Mostly on special teams.
#5 got burned at CB more than just a couple of times sorry to say. But he too will get better and he had a huge task last night.
As far as the "new" look silver pants it is not new at all. It is actually the old 'Traditional' look as you may recall. Glad to see it back. The blue pants look better on the road with the white jersey. (imo)

Agreed on the silver pants. They do look better with the blue jerseys than the blue pants. Hopefully we keep it that way. I missed Carnahan playing on special teams. Thank you for pointing it out to me. I know Carnahan started at CB the first two games this year, and was wondering if there may have been an injury that was keeping him from playing CB. Like I said, Ricketts had a very tall order in trying to cover Barker. He did get beat a couple of times, but overall, did a fairly good job on him.

85 B&G, since you've had marching band experience,

do you know or
does anybody know why they used the dark pants to begin with?

One theory I have always had is same reason marching bands switched from white shoes to black. While white is flashy and looks sharp when EVERYBODY is in sync, it looks spectacular. However, even just one person out of step or sync makes it obvious to anyone watching, especially the judges.Do the football dark pants help hide inadvertant movement?
I've watched them in the same uniforms (Silver pants) since 1946. I remember riding back home to Scott Township after the game in our old 37 Plymouth which the inside was dark at night and all I could see were the players in those blue & silver uniforms moving around all the way home like a constant instant replay.

The crowd was very big(maybe 8,000?) , but was a little quiet for the size. What happened to great division one wide receiver they were supposed to have? I saw nothing to warrant all the hype. Maybe he had an off night, maybe it was our D, who knows. I thought I heard he didn't do much against Mater Dei either. Just because you have great straight line speed doesn't make you a great football player. If he is that good, you would think the Central coaching staff could think of more creative ways to get him the ball.

I wont go too deep but I will just say he is way over-hyped because speed doesnt matter if you cant get past someone. Also I dont believe a word of SEC offers like a courier article I recently read. Also the Central coaching staff has shown too many times in the past how they are. Thank goodness we have some great coaches though and really do great with the kids.

The atmoshere Friday was subdued. The music as to low. The band helped the second half when playing in between plays. When I go to the MD games, they play the sound sytem the way it as designed so eveyon can hear it.

Carnahan is a very fast and talented player that could probably help out better at CB then at LB where he played Friday night. #5 is still very green and is getting beat on a regular basis. Bringing in your starting QB at defensive back in just the 3rd game scares the hell out of me. Nothing against Stutsman, but I would rather see how some other kids respond on defense before sending out #9 and possibly getting hurt on a cheap shot. Good win against an overated Central team. Keep it going boys.

Kass is dead on. I also agree with his evaluation of Carnahan.
I love tradition, but I am one that really likes the look of all blue including the long blue socks. I think it really looks cool. I think we will see it again for the MD game and then that's what they continue to wear in the playoffs. I sure hope we see them in that the Saturday of Thanksgiving Weekend!!!

Central looked huge on offense and it did seem to be a problem at all for the men in blue up front. I think this team is just going to be getting better and better as the season goes on. I think they have a good shot to go far if they stay healthy.
It looked like they were saving Matt during this game and maybe that is by design. I would also like to see them not be so physical after a score. I wouldn't want an injury due to celebration.

Just for the record,Barker scored one TD on Matt at CB. He's a tough match up. Don't like taking chances with Matt on D either-but Cuda back on D should eliminate that,
Maybe we should consider Tidwell matching up against other very tall receivers-i.e. Schue at Memorial. Oh well, that's Tolly's job.
A big hooray for the pants change!!!! I sure thought the blue on blue had been around for more than one year!!!
I didn't care for Owen leaving his startes in on the last drive-but I consider the source.
And Haywood did have a very weak game against MD. The MD CB's "chucked" him at the line of scrimmage and the Central coaching staff made little effort to get hime the ball.
Central did play a better game against us-no turnovers(no TD gifts in the end zone).
Any chance Smith or Balbach back this weak??

I wish I could get a better feel for North. They kinda scare me. They have the potentiol to be very good. I think MD is beatable, but their front four scare me. The couple times I've seen them play their front four on defense have been dominating the line. I've heard from several people that Andrew Whal is getting big ten D1 looks. I think Matt can throw on MD, but I don't think Reitz will be able to rush for 150 yds that game. Castle is down and Bosse is Bosse. The three teams that will give Reitz a decent game are Memorial, Mater Dei and North. And it just depends on what North team shows up. I will tape the Jasper HH game Friday night. Jasper looks good again, but slow like usual.
