IMO that was the worst officiated game I've ever seen. There were some legit calls but to be flagged 15 times compared to like 3 is a joke.

It was bad but still didnt top at East Central last year. I have never seen one that bad at any level of any sport.

I don't know how it looked live, but on TV it was pitiful. I replayed several of the calls on DVR on slow-mo and they were not even close. Block in the back called on Fuqua after Matt had been tackled, holding on Tidwell when he was legally blocking, interference on Hamilton when he never touched the guy. Those are bad enough, but to not see ANY holding on the opposing team all game long....That must be the best coached, most well disciplined team playing their first game EVER in the history of high school football.

I agree with you Kass and will also add that a certain sports announcer just went down a notch or two on my list!

This Owensboro loss was brought to you by....INDEPENDENCE BANK!!!! Member FDIC.
At least he didn't say Independence Bank as much this year.

That was the same crew from a week ago and I thought they did well considering the clock problems, etc. This however was the worst job I have ever seen from a crew and you were left with no other reason than to believe they wanted to keep the game close. I give alot of credit for our team hanging in there despite the horrible calls. I also give credit to Coach Lewis as I would have lost it at some point. Hopefully we are done with going to Owensboro.

Either we are the most undisciplined team around (not the case) or those refs are huge Kentucky high school football fans. Some of the calls against the line were accurate. The unsportsmanslike conduct against Tidwell after the Vaugn TD was accurate. They could have even called an excessive celebration penalty on us after Vaughn's first long run when the celebration went deep into the sidelines. The rest of the calls were either intended to make or negate good plays in OHS's favor.
I felt the OHS boys played with good sportsmanship as seen from the "stands." OHS did not give up as I expected after that first half. They will have a good season. Henderson County and Owensboro High School gave us some good test the first two weeks.
Cuda got to recover for one more week. The sophomores are playing some big time football. The revamped D-line did a nice job against some top-notch running backs and a decent-sized line. As always, the O-line did a nice job with the exception of some pre-snap movement. Kemp is doing a nice job filling in at guard. Still can't get used to him wearing #66, though.

We didn't appear to be very disciplined last night at all. Holding calls are because you get beat and it's a spur of the moment. But excessive celebrations and blocks in the back are uncalled for. Glad the boys kept it together though after the opening kickoff for the 2nd half. We appeared to look a little flat after that.
How about Owensboro breaking a huddle with 12 players before their punt late in the game and their coach only noticing and calls a timeout because all of OUR fans were screaming at the refs who apparently can't count past 11.

I also noticed some late hits on Ownesboro.....particularly # 50 kicking Vaugh in the head while he was on the ground late in the 3rd qtr, right in front of the Umpire no less. Funny he didn't see that one.

Officiating: This might not have anything to do with anything .. but I only remember one flag being thrown by the official on the Reitz sideline - and the called 'foul' wasn't even his call. By design? Hmmmmmm LOL! That is the only official that our coaches have constant access to. Can you imaging what the flag tally would have been if Tony had pulled a "Goebel" (walking half way onto the field) to "talk" to the refs?

Great win under the worst possible circumstances. No wonder everyone I work with from Ky. calls Owensboro the worst "homer dome" in the state. Maybe they can start a new countdown game clock on their website that says only 25 hrs 6 minutes and 7 seconds since we got our butts kicked by Reitz! With all the running our kids will do according to coach Lewis because of the penalties, just think what great "game shape" we will be in for Central. To win on the road under those conditions with all the injuries should really help down the road.

There was at least one other one I know that official on our side called. It was when Owensboro was on offense and moved then after throwning the flag he decided Reitz called time-out and waived off the penalty. If we called time-out, wasnt he smart enough to realize you blow the whistle but NOT throw a flag.

Guys. There was a rule change this year. I'm not being sarcastic or joking about the officiating now. The new rule is a substituted player must leave the field with in a reasonable time (3 seconds) after being notified of being substituted for. A team may now have 12 in the huddle, and even break the huddle with 12 players as long as the extra player is leaving the field in a reasonable time.
What can not be done is for a 12th player to run out on the field and into the huddle, notify the player they are replacing, then all 12 players stay on the field for an excessive amount of time (beyond the 3 seconds). This is still a penalty for illegal substitution.

Not disputing that rule because I dont know but does it say "a reasonable amount of time" or specify the 3 seconds you mention? If you told them 5 seconds alot of these officials couldnt figure that out so if it really is left a grey area like that is crazy. But that wouldnt be the first crazy thing the IHSAA has done.

Just looked it up. There is not grey area on the substitution rule. The replaced player must leave the field within 3 seconds of being replaced. Sorry for the confusion. I wasn't sure if 3 seconds was in the book, but after talking to a couple of people, I found out that 3 seconds is the rule, not a guideline.

All I can say is Coaches Lewis and Hurley have a lot of class and just refer to "it" as adversity.
Just look at the stats of not only our game, but, memorial's also. Unreal.
But, a win is a win is a win. Good bye O'boro hopefully forever!
Oh no, just remembered the USI Weslyan B Ball series Same ol @#$@#$
