> Reitz ranked No. 1 in PCS Rankings
Posted by ReitzFootball.com - 09-8-10 14:40 - 0 comments
For several years now, every week during the regular season I've compiled all the available rankings and polls into a BCS-like formula to produce what I've dubbed the Indiana high school football Postseason Championship Series (PCS).

The PCS Rankings are computed in an almost identical manner to college football’s BCS. The purpose is primarily to entertain, but also to help determine, using all available methods, the rankings of all Indiana high school football teams that participate in the IHSAA postseason playoffs. With a call by many to seed the sectionals, the PCS could be used to help that process.

Here are the Top 10 for Class 4A:
1. Evansville Reitz (3-0) 0.9838
2. Fort Wayne Dwenger (3-0) 0.8692
3. Plymouth (3-0) 0.7825
4. Jasper (3-0) 0.7500
5. Concord (3-0) 0.7346
6. Indianapolis Cathedral (0-3) 0.6268
7. Lowell (2-1) 0.5019
8. South Bend Clay (3-0) 0.4456
9. East Central (2-1) 0.4276
10. Roncalli (1-2) 0.2991

To see the complete standings for all five classes, I've attached the file in a pdf format.

Here's how it's figured out:
  • AP Press poll = 1/3
  • IFCA Coach poll = 1/3
  • Average of CalPreps, Massey, Sagarin, and TGD Poll, minus the worst of the four = 1/3

Enjoy!

Rudy

> JV win defensive battle
Posted by stats73 - 09-8-10 06:10 - 1 comments
Reitz JV team took on Central's JV team last night in the bowl and after a 37 minute defensive battle Drew Johnston took the snap, faked a hand-off and ran 36 yards for the only score of the night.
The defense sacked Central's William Puckett 5 times and forced Central to punt on several drives to maintain the shutout.

> AP Poll finally out
Posted by ReitzFootball.com - 09-7-10 19:29 - 0 comments
The AP Poll is finally out. I suppose it was delayed a day because of the Labor Day holiday.

Reitz is still No. 1, 28 points ahead of Fort Wayne Dwenger. Jasper comes in at No. 3 with no other local teams receiving points. Despite starting 0-3, Cathedral is No. 6, although the Irish have played an extremely tough schedule thus far.

> Is there anything that can be done???
Posted by Transplanted Panther - 09-7-10 10:22 - 0 comments
I read an article on GID about an arsonist burning down the equipment shed at Indy Howe High School. They lost all of their field equipment, blocking and tackling dummies, and some track equipment.

http://www.fox59.com/news/wxin-howe-footba...,0,953264.story

Just wondering if there may be something that could be done to help in this situation. It says in the article that their coach has no idea how they are going to get the equipment they need for their home game this weekend. This is the second attack on a football team this season (Penn had their new turf vandalized before their first home game) and it is really starting to get scary. Maybe, even if we as a nation can't send equipment to help out, we can give our support to Howe High School.

> Week 3 ReitzFootball.com Players of the Week
Posted by ReitzFootball.com - 09-6-10 22:06 - 0 comments
Thanks for your nominations...now it's time to vote! The poll will be up until late Wednesday.

FYI - rules are that a player can win the Player of the Week twice during the regular season. Once that happens, they are ineligible to win again until the playoffs.

> Ice cream
Posted by Harry - 09-6-10 16:38 - 6 comments
I know it isn't footbal related, but I need help. What was the name of the ice cream place on St. Joe Ave.? The old Wal-Green's. My wife and I cannot decide on dinner, so we started naming off places back in the day. Those that no longer exist.

> Open Enrollment in the EVSC
Posted by True Blue - 09-4-10 22:53 - 21 comments
I believe it is just a matter of time before the effects of open enrollment start to happen at Reitz when it comes to football. Not only do I think Reitz will see kids from all over Evansville, but I believe it will affect Posey county also. Especially since they are having financial problems. Who knows, we might end up with some kids from across the river, like one of the other schools in town does from time to time.

I don't know if this is a good thing, but it sure gives us the possibility of a more even playing field when it comes to other schools we have to go up against in the playoffs. Ideally I feel it would be better if every school did operate by boundaries, but it will never be that way. So I guess we just join em and try and take that advantage away that they have been enjoying over the years.

Anybody else noticed we were called the mighty panthers last night? It was very nice to hear. Did the ban on "mighty" get lifted?
