What is the Reitz Football Community?
The Reitz Football Community was born out of ReitzFootball.com, the Unofficial Reitz High School Football Home Page. Since the early days, my philosophy was that it wasn't just my website; it belongs to every coach, player, administrator and fan that loves Reitz Football.
When THE MAN tried to shut down ReitzFootball.com in April 2009, my theory that the site belonged to the community was tested and proven as fact. The response I received from everyone proved that it had grown from the "Home Page" that I started in my parent's basement back in 1996, and had evolved into something that belonged to the whole community.
What's different from before?
As far as content, there's not much different. The biggest change is the spirit of things...the Reitz Football Community is no longer just one website: it is ReitzFootball.com, all the friends on Facebook and Twitter, all the pictures posted on Flickr, etc. The Reitz Football Community belongs to all of us. THE MAN can never quiet all the voices of the Reitz Nation!
What's Facebook?
Facebook is a free "social networking site". What that means is that people can get on Facebook and send emails, pictures and more to their friends. There's a lot of Reitz Football fans on Facebook; sign up now and say hi!
What's Twitter?
Twitter is a free service for people to stay in touch with each other. It's different from Facebook in that it is so simple: it just asks "What are you doing?". But it can be used for so much. I'll be tweeting (or sending out) updates, links to blogs, interesting news stories, etc. And of course, to communicate and interact with all of you!
What's Flickr?
Flickr is pretty cool. It's a place you can go to keep your pictures for free (all you need is a Yahoo! ID). You can organize them however you want, by event, place, etc. You can also add your photos to the Reitz Football Community group!
What's YouTube?
YouTube is an amazing place. Anyone can go on there and post videos for free, whether it be news events going on around the world or a cute video of your cat Fluffy. We have an account on there, called the Reitz Football Channel, where there's videos relating to Reitz Football. Go watch now!
What's Dipity?
Dipity is a visual timeline of events. I'm adding every Reitz Football game to the timeline and will have articles about games, as well. Dipity also automatically displays all of my tweets!
